One question after watching "Tell me about yourself video"

I perfectly understood what it meant to say - When asked to talk about myself, it should be relevant to what the interviewer wants to know, which is EES. There's one thing I can't really understand though.

When you're in an interview, mostly you present your resume to the interviewer. And why do you have to talk about something that's already in the resume and why does the interviewer expect to hear the same thing?

In my opinion, it should rather be including what characteristics you have and what your personality is like, as the interviewer doesn't have any background knowledge about you except the information in your resume.

  1. Actually, if the interviewer asks about the resume, you should give extra information about that resume point that relates to the job.

As for characteristics/personality that you want to highlight, you should be ready with an example before your interview and be creative about how you include it in your interview.

The company knows what characteristics it's looking for. If they dont see it emerge naturally in the interview they may ask about a situation to see if the characteristic they want emerges in your answer. Or, if it does not emerge naturally, they will not choose you.

If you don't have the "characteristic" it's good that they don'y hire you cause you'd be unhappy being someone you are not.
